Originally posted by Scuzzy I saw in freelance sites like contractedwork.com that people pay to clone websites, I didn't know that it is legal, is it?
I think they mean purely in terms of functionality; it's kinda like when other manufacturers saw the first power-windows on cars and then imitated it. Sure, you can't go to the patent office and steal the designs, but you can design something yourself and put it on *your* cars--as long as the car doesn't look the same (this would be the actualy design of the website) there's nothing really illegal about it.
Yes exactly. There are some awesome designs out there and allot of people tend to see something they like and say wow I want my site to look similiar to this. I dont see anything illegal about it as long as you dont use anything from the website. personally I think having your own unique design is better than anything.
but there are some tough clients that say i want it like this, and you show them a different and better option and they prefer something they already saw in another page -_- such a headache, one tries to do the best to convince them with something else. Most of the cases it works (not the 100%).. but well..
Thats the problem I face with website design, not only for myself, but for sites I design. Once I get a design I like and am happy with, the next week I see a site thats design I like better, and I start to think about re-tweaking my site to incorporate what I like about that site into mine.
I've finally learned to find something that works, and stick with it, at least for a few months
