take it offline, and noone can dl it anymore

otherwise, you might want to try out mod_rewrite to block some useragents ... http://httpd.apache.org/docs/misc/rewriteguide.html

Nothing, and I repeat nothing will stop people from copying your website if they really want to. It's impossible. Unless you want to create your own "encrypted markup language" :p

... and that's the only idea
    have a look at http://pear.php.net/package/HTML_Crypt
But this will also prevent Webrobots to crawl your site!

I could get around that VERY easily if I wanted to steal the contents of your website. What I was suggesting was not a javascript encryption mechanism but a rework of the http protocol to encrypt html data. Sure, it will never happen, but it's about the only way you would be able to stop people from stealing your content.

One suggestion is create your entire site in flash. Text in flash means they can not just copy/paste.

Whats to stop me from simply taking a screen shot of your web site, then re-slicing it? You'll never be able to prevent this.

So, in conclusion there is no way to prevent people from stealing your content.

    Nope.

If someone wants it bad enough, they'll take it.

Actually, you can do what was already suggested by not putting it online. If it isnt on a server, nobody can steal it.

I dont think its really necessary to prevent people from copying your website, unless it contains Latest NASA Secrets.

Even famous websites dont do this... Microsft, MSN, Yahoo.

    Let them have it :-)
