I like to compile and run php4 with apache. What is the most common configure, so I won't miss any common usefull features ? for example:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/php4 --enable-???? --with-??? --enable-??? --with-????

thanks

You shouldn't be looking for the most "common configure". You should be looking for the configuration which is best for you. Keep that in mind and read the docs to see what every option does before you enable it.

The less options you include, the less memory is taken by apache processes and the less the load on the server is. If you don't intend to use some of the options all the time, you can compile them as 'shared' modules with php module and they only get loaded when a specific function is being called in the script.
