    how long is the redemtion period on average for a domain name?

    I'm afraid I have to desagree. Redemption period depends on registrar.

    For example, it is 30 days for Stargate, 40 days for Tucows and I can't remember right now, but I think is longer for NetSol.

    EDIT: Well, of course it also depends on registry. It's not the same, for example, for .com and .de

    Even though its rare, I have seen redemption period last over 90 days.

    The ICANN gTLD registries have a fixed redemption period of 30 days, followed by 5 days PENDING DELETE. Some registrars also pass along the 45 days autorenew-grace-period, but that's not the same as redemption.
