Buying a new rackmount server

I'm looking for a company selling rackmount servers. I'm not interested in hosting at there place - I'd like to have them ship it to my DC.

What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

http://pogolinux.com has always given me the attention Dell doesn't. Very good staff.

I contacted rackmountsetc once, we had one phone call, and he never followed up with it. Pogo, and even Dell was much better service. It all depends on what your looking for, and what your willing to pay.

You can get some good deals on Sun servers on eBay.

Quality?

Go with Compaq, IBM, opensource storage (talk to Eren Niazi), or build it yourself.

Avoid dell.

Dell used to be the place to buy from.. Dell is like sprint. They owned a market, then they did all they coul to throw it away. Dell's support over the past two years has been abysmal, and their product is HORRIBLE. Cheap unsupported chipsets, poor manufacturing quality, long turnarounds, and lousy shipping has cost some of my customers 10s of thousands of dollars of lost productivity.

Dell is cheap for a reason.

I've actually heard some good things about Pogo.

In the Open Source support realm, California Digital is also a great option. They took over VA Linux's operations when they went under, and still do a very good job of customer service.

One of the datacentres I co-locate a server in buys rackmount dell servers and they are great. Although they are not cheap they do have excellent linux support and have an excellent build quality

Ive dislike DELL (Servers, Desktops ETC) for as long as ive been using computers, I either build the server myself or buy off ebay (so sue me).
I dislike the idea of one of my servers catching fire.

The only thing good about IBM is their marketing. Go with Dell or build your own.

the only thing? you might be mistaken. the only thing good about them is they are the most well built rack mount servers on the market. Ibm supports their hardware longer than any other OEM. Their warranties are some of the best out there. I'm yet to EVER see an ibm rack mount server fail.
