I had someone say that if you don't have SSL your site is not secured and that "...oh say" a rival company could log in and read your emails or do anything else they pleased. Could someone please confirm or clearify this??
What SSL really does is provide a method of encryption for submitting forms and orders. It ensures that the data sent will not be able to be read by a third party.
Not having a SSL-enabled site by NO means that a rival company can login and read your e-mails.
If an individual were to do this, it would not be related to the lack of having SSL installed.
