Cpanel and disk usage
I set a client 50MB space. Follow CPanel, he is using 37MB. but du -h shows his folder is 66MB.
which one is right? Is it a CPanel bug? I am not allowing overselling, but why he can upload more than 50MB?
is there any idea? Thanks
Check whether his quota is setup correctly (50 MB) using command "quota username", if not, try the Cpanel 'fixquota' script.
Probably, he has some files under the ownership of 'nobody' in his home directory which are not being taken into account by Cpanel/Quota mgmt.
running /scripts/fixquotas without successful. I have checked all files belong to his username, and found, yes, 66MB without mySQL DB :|
how can he upload more than 50MB? I can see his quota is 50MB I have to fix it. Otherwise other clients can also upload more than their quotas, is that right?
I have noticed this problem will occur if PureFTP server is being used instead of the ProFTP server.
Adding that option (--sysquotas) to the pure-ftpd config (/etc/sysconfig/pure-ftpd). Restart the server and see if it works.
If it doesn't, you have to compile pure-ftpd from source and add the parameter --with-sysquotas to fix the problem.
This problem has been around a long time. Perhaps you should open a bug report (and point Cpanel to this thread) so they can quickly fix it.
thanks all. I will try first to see if it's working
Searching first works!
I had this same problem and Admin4u's post about "nobody" having ownership fixed my problem.
I hope bumping old threads isn't looked down upon, because I just wanted to say thanks!
