Host cannot recieve mail?
My problem is my server cannot recieve email to only one of its domains. Now this domain porteightyhosting.com is also the domain the nameserver is on(ns1.porteightyhosting.com). The hostname of the machine was s1.portyeighthosting.com but from the errors I was recieveing it and what cpanel said I needed to change the hostname from an actuall acount/hosted domain. Becuase porteightyhosting.com is hosted on the machine. SO I changed the hostname to cal.stevenetworks.com (which is a domain that is not hosted and does not even has its dns handled by the server in question).
This is the error that the server is getting when it is trying to email me daily info, this does not get recieved in an inbox but I read it from the queue:

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its

The thing is the mx record for this domain completely matches other mx records for other domains hosted except for the entries for the nameservers. And all the other domains Im hosting email works fine. Any suggestions? I having been toying with the for the past 3 weeks to no avail.
Contacted managed.com about the private ips and recieved the following email: (ie dnsreport.com is wrong)

address space. We currently have an IP block assigned from ARIN (
220.127.116.11/18 ) of which IP's show up under dnsreport query tool as non public
IP addresses, causing concern for many of our customers.
We use the IP->Country database that ARIN provides. It seems that
it takes ARIN a couple of months to get new IPs listed in their
And from that I was told to just get a new host. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? My first month does expire today, though I contacted them 5 days ago how I go about paying for the next month I never got a response so Im not sure about their(managed.com) billing.
Originally posted by Rob83 I am unable to ping your domain, are you sure it's up?
porteightyhosting.com does not respond to a ping but it does respond on port eighty(ie through a browser) and www.porteightyhosting.com repsonds to a ping. Pinging the ip responds too. Here is a screen cap of the dns screen: Pic
Agreed. But did you see the pic I posted. There is an entry for porteightyhosting.com. Am I missing something? If the obvious you are refering to is the fact that it cannot resolve the name then WOW, because that has been understood from the begining. My question is why? There is a dns entry for it.
Well I just sent an email from yahoo.com and it seemed to go through. Not that it means its all fixed. Porteightyhosting.com still does not respond to a ping but the error of cannot find host name is probably due to some sort of dns caching Im guessing. Maybe needs 24 hours to update.
Also from dns repors(which is coming up with alot better of a report now):
WARNING. Your web site (www.porteightyhosting.com) has a CNAME record pointing to porteightyhosting.com.porteightyhosting.com.. That by itself is confusing, but acceptable. However, the CNAME record in this case causes an extra DNS lookup, which will slightly delay visitors to your website, and use extra bandwidth.
Cant I just make it an A record?

just wondered if you have other zone files set up,
like ns1.porteightyhosting.com.db and
ns2.porteightyhosting.com.db and which may
contain incorrect entries ? if you have, don't
delete them, but just correct any errors.
