I just generated and installed a self-signed ssl cert in WHM for my private site. Installed and works fine. Accepted the cert from my browser as trusted. When I looked at the cert it says it's only valid for 30 days. With a self-signed cert do I have to generate a new one every month? New to SSL so please forgive if this is a dumb question.
As far as I know, self-signed certs are valid only for 30 days by default. I think you can change this value (some argument called 'days' ) if you are generating & installing it manually through shell. You can do a search on apache.org probably for the installation details.
THANKS! This is the best info on how to do this I've seen. Most have openssl and apache installed already so you can skip the first few pages of the tutorial. I followed the steps and created a 5 year certificate with no problems. Thanks Again! Love this place!
I use the step by step of this tutorial.
