    MySQL error

I have my my.cnf and httpd.conf customized, and usually my website runs fine. It's simply an active invision power board. Very rarely, however, the site returns with an error. I had it before and it said "Too many connections". I fixed this by simply raising the max_connections, but now, sometimes it will return with an error that says cannot connect to database, or something like that. What causes this error and how can I fix it? Here are my settings:

    set-variable = max_connections=500
    set-variable = key_buffer=512M
    set-variable = table_cache=1024
    set-variable = thread_concurrency=2
    set-variable = wait_timeout=10
    set-variable = connect_timeout=10
    set-variable = interactive_timeout=10

    Timeout 10
    KeepAlive Off
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
    KeepAliveTimeout 8
    StartServers 8
    MinSpareServers 5
    MaxSpareServers 20
    MaxClients 400
    MaxRequestsPerChild 10000

    Hi Micheal

Log into the Shell and check if you can start the mysql prompt, If that works then check your invision board config settings for the username_database with username_user and password. Please be sure the username_ is required for connecting with databases and picking the user for the database.

If you still find errors try to create a new user and add that user to the database.
