Question causes of hard disk failing

i have a Windows2003 dedicated server at EV1SERVERS, and it has a 60GB IDE harddisk drive and was just wondering what are the chances of the harddisk failing? and what sort of things cause harddisk failure?

many things cause failure. heat, stress, time, pure dumb luck, gremlins. there really is no way to tell how and when a drive will fail. There are warning signs, clicking noises, unexplained data, loss, many things that can signal a failure. Best bet is to always have a back up.
