We are experiencing an issue with SBC's DNS block list having one of our servers included in its list. There should not be any reason we can fathom that the server be on their list, but getting in touch with someone that handles the DNS issues has been difficult. Our tech staff did a search around the net for comments about this issue, and apparently we aren't the only ones who have run into this.
Anyone here by chance run into issues with SBC's block list, and were you able to reach anyone to resolve the issue?
I couldn't get anyone at SBC to talk to me back when I wanted to buy DSL from them. I doubt you'll have much luck getting their network people to listen to you about a screw-up that doesn't really affect their bottom line in any significant way. :(
We eventually got this issue resolved. It was difficult, since the majority of people you call at SBC are customer service and no nothing about who admins the block list. We eventually contacted [email protected] and corresponded with some people in their technical departments. It turned out to be that someone had forged our IP address.
I'm currently being block because a customer of ours has a forward setup to send all email for her domain to her sbcglobal.net email address.
She then used the sbcglobal spam reporting system to mark spam messages.
Unfortunately, the sbcglobal spam system is not smart enough to know the difference between a spam message originating from our servers versus a spam message that was sent to our servers and then forwarded to an sbcglobal.net address by the sbcglobal.net customer.
So their system sees our IP in the routing of the message and incorrectly think we sent the spam message. We did not. We simply forwarded all mail (spam and not spam) to the sbcglobal.net address because the sbcglobal.net customer wanted that.
I sent and email to [email protected] per the bounce message and got a cookie cutter response back:
Thank you for contacting the SBC Internet Services Policy department. We have received your request to be removed from our blacklist.
Unfortunately, our members have received and complained of SPAM originating from this IP.
It was blocked and will not be allowed to send email to our networks. We must protect our company and subscribers from unsolicited email.

I'm trying to reach a human so they can confirm what I am saying is true... but no luck reaching them via phone for several days and have not received a call back either.
