cPanel license
Hello, I'm getting ready to move from dedicated servers to co-located servers, and starting to dread all the extra fees.
Here are two companies that look pretty respectable for cPanel licensing:
http://cplicensing.net (free insallation)
$55/machine/month - no support
$565/year - unlimited support from cpanel
http://www.buycpanel.com (free install)
$55/machine/month - no support
$563/year - one year of support and updates
I was under the impression that my NOC (the planet) could provide my licensing for $25/month or around that price since my servers are co-located in their data facility. After checking up on that with my sales rep at The Planet, I was told they can only offer cpanel licensing on their Dedicated servers, and not their co-located servers.
Is anyone else co-located with the planet that uses cPanel, and have a more affordable route to go about this?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Why did you give me those two companies? They do nothing for as they only do internal cpanel licensing. I'm wanting to know if anyone else has an internal licensing deal with the planet, or knows a less expensive route to go for external licensing.
I'm not going to switch to gnax or dedicatednow just because of cpanel licensing. However, I thank you for your kind response.

I doubt that you will find any real inexpensive external license.

Yeah, I agree. $55/month is about the lowest I will be able to find, and the occasional $53/month after bulk rates.
So that rolls it on over to internal licensing with The Planet. Does anyone have any experience in doing this with co-location at The Planet?

I could not find any information on whether they offer them or not. I do not see why they could not, however. Maybe you should give them a call and see if you can speak with someone else.

Co-location isnt "internal licensing" to ThePlanet - it is external so they will be charging external licensing fee's.
Internal only regards their dedicated servers

Turns out the planet does offer cpanel at $25/month per server for co-located servers and $20 setup. I spoke with Raylene this time.

Thomas, collocated machines, according the Cpanel are not internel and are external.
What TP probably did was offer him an external one at a loss.

MrDredd,
I was not doubting the fact that cPanel class it as external.
I was annoyed at the fact TP staff told him that they dont do them.

MrDredd. From my understanding they offer co-located cpanel license at a flat rate of $25 at the planet, and $20 for dedicated. I'm purchasing multiple $25 licenses for multiple servers.
