phpinfo and the cute doggie !

I was just testing a client site and ran phpinfo...and it scared the jeebers out of me for a few seconds. I thought I had got hacked or something by a canine-loving hacker.

There's this nice cute doggie's pic onthe right side where the php logo used to be. It says "Thies"...must be the PHP founder's doggie...but really, it kind of gets you the first time if you don't know what's happening. And then you see the date and its April 1st. So, either their doggie went to the heavens...or its just a gag.

First GMail, then misspellings on WHT, now this!

Even though it's funny, I could see it being a problem for some people demoing their sites:

    Potential Customer: "What's that dog?"
    Sales: "What d....Um, I don't know"
PC: "Oh, well, you guys look real secure *rolls eyes*"

Is it done remotely? Maybe it's built-in. If it is done remotely it's a scary thought indeed!

Are you sure it doesnt just do like vB, IPB, and so many other php apps and pull the actual logo from a remote site?

It's not done remotely. The dog was there last year too....

If it's not done remotely, how did they change the URL to show the dog? Are you suggesting it was pre-scripted in PHP to change on 4/1?

If so then my first thought still remains...

heh, I had just noticed that now on my phpinfo page. Scared me for a second, and then I remembered it was April 1st.

It was already there last year, so I wasn't really surprised by it.

From exactly a year ago: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...ht=dog+phpinfo

You scared me! When you referred to phpinfo and cut doggie I thought it was my site . btw, if you are talking about phpinfo it would be a good idea to check out your php info in another directory instead of having it in /public_html/phpinfo.php

I bookmarked my doggie image and I can still get him back by adding this to the url: .../phpinfo.php?=PHPE9568F36-D428-11d2-A769-00AA001ACF42

    Good doggie!
