    Newsletters

Sore subject I know...but I got the WHT news letter and I never considered it as spam.

I hate spam myself. I get around 500 plus per day...so obviously not an advocate of it.

Anyway..I didn't think the news letter had anything of interest in it..I thought it was actually a bit of a waste of space...but I never thought for one second it was spam.

I have been hanging around here...been slagged off...in the old days...pre..be nice to your nieghbor. But it was like getting a letter from an old flame. I saw it ..I though..hey WHT have started doing a news letter. Read it...thought it was crap...deleted it. Never crossed my mind that it was spam. Why would it be?

Anyway...I think this spam thing...what is and what isn't is a load of old tosh.

You know damn well what spam is....getting a newsletter from your hangout is not exactly up their with knob inhancement and stay large cream.

Anyway...sucking up to no one By the way...I am on a warning and penalty point for (Mining our membership) Load of crap that was...but that is a different story altogether.

    Newsletter is Spam

It's spam because it was unsolicited commercial email. Very simple. When I signed up, as did many others, I specifically selected the button to not receive any email from WHT. They then sent me email advertising their services. Ipso facto, spam. webhostingtalk.com is now blocked on my server and their IP is listed as a spam source by Spamcop and SORBS.

Not it is not simple because I personally do not consider it spam and actually found it informative especially since I have been considering the premium membership. An email about some viagra product or home loan with 0 apr is what I call spam. An email from an online community is not automatic spam (in my humble opinion).

I do agree that iNET could have been a little more professional about it though (referring to the email that started this all). Of course they do not have to be professional, but it just looks better.
