    phpinfo logo hacked

    Have any one run phpinfo() lately?

    My local server that is not connected to the lnternet display a funny face instead of the regular nice PHP logo.

    My online server phpinfo() shows a dog instead of the nice PHP logo.

    Have anyone got this problem or is it just me?

    I'd put money on it being April 1st on your server.

    Yep, happens each April 1st - scares the poop out of you the first time you see it.

    I got some funky dog as mine.
    I want a CAT damnit, A CAT!
    Apparently that logo isn't static, and I'd bet it doesn't even come from your server, most likely the php server.

    That's what I thought at first, but it definitely doesn't come from the PHP.net or any remote site. It has been coded into PHP. You can see that the image was dynamically created if you look at the image properties. The original poster said that his home computer did not even have an internet connection.
    I am seeing the dog logo on servers with PHP 4.3.3 and 4.3.4. For the original poster: what version of PHP is running on the machine that is displaying a smiley face instead of a dog?

    In the PHP source files:

    /ext/standard/info.c...

    if ((ta->tm_mon==3) && (ta->tm_mday==1)) {
    PUTS("?="PHP_EGG_LOGO_GUID"\\" alt=\\"Thies!\\" /></a>");
    } else {
    PUTS("?="PHP_LOGO_GUID"\\" alt=\\"PHP Logo\\" /></a>");
    }

    there ya go

    In info.h:

    #define PHP_LOGO_GUID "PHPE9568F34-D428-11d2-A769-00AA001ACF42"
    #define PHP_EGG_LOGO_GUID "PHPE9568F36-D428-11d2-A769-00AA001ACF42"
    #define ZEND_LOGO_GUID "PHPE9568F35-D428-11d2-A769-00AA001ACF42"
    #define PHP_CREDITS_GUID "PHPB8B5F2A0-3C92-11d3-A3A9-4C7B08C10000"

    You can access the different logos by accessing the URL like this:
    phpinfo.php?=IDNUMBER

    such as:
    http://yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php?=P...9-00AA001ACF42

    for the plain php logo

    http://yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php?=P...9-00AA001ACF42

    for the dog logo

    I haven't yet found where the actual image generation takes place and I've wasted enough time on this already, but maybe someone can find where the images themselves are coming from.

    That is weird! I just noticed it on mine too! I would prefer a cat or something. Maybe an animated gif of the dogs eyes getting bigger or something funny like that.

    I'm not sure if the image has changed, but I'm sure PHP has been changing the logo on phpinfo() every April 1st at least since 2002. So it was in whatever version of PHP people used on April 1, 2002 and probably earlier.
