Alright, I have an account with Ipowerweb and I have vdeck. From what I see, vDeck and cPanel are very smililar. It seems to me that Ipowerweb is using the cPanel core with a new skin and a few hacks and pass it off as their own system. Has anyone used it and have an opinion?
Actually I am pretty sure VDECK is built on top of cPanel. In reviewing the software I believe it is an add-on type script / skin with added functionality.
I have tried in the past to get in touch with the VDECK company with only bounced e-mail and no available phone number on the site. It would be my guess that this is not available to the general public making cPanel your choice by default.
Their new release is certainly turning some heads. Many reputable providers already use it and more seem to be adopting it every day.
It's on my list to check out. Although cPanel is the most popular, the competition is heating up quickly. With DirectAdmin progressing nicely and Plesk's new release, cPanel will need to take steps to address the negatives of their script...the poor coding and security in some areas.
Don't get me wrong, I like cPanel and use it on two servers, but I now have others running DirectAdmin and have personally switched most of my sites to a DA base. There are several skins already available and more being released shortly that address the "ugly" (to some) interface..
If anything I hope that cPanel will take note of the increased competition and use that to improve their product. Security lapses such as the recent password issue should not occur...there is no excuse for it.
I am going to have to say that I like cpanel more than vdeck. I have used them both and I think that cpanel is the way to go. I haven't seen the most updated versions that I know of; I believe that the last cpanel I worked with was 9.0? Not sure; could be wrong. And the vdeck did just look like some people who added a few hacks and a new design; thats all I really noticed.
