    I agree...

Now, about the sale. I certainly like some aspects of it. The new owners are well respected members of the community, and know what is best for it. They will certainly steer us in the right direction.

About pay-to-post: I don't know how well this will work. Although, if they can get it to work, well, that is just awesome. It will bring in some much needed revenue for the community, and it will allow the new owners to really improve the community.

Can I trade my WHT shirt / mousepad for a year's supply of cookies? I'd even take cakes.

NO! It's just all about cold, hard cash.

Follow the money - you'll eventually get to the truth.

The new owners don't care about 'community' so much as greenbacks.

They would need to get the Prohacker back from iNet. The pay-to-post thingy could be job #40345 on his list.

I'm for hire as the marketing director. I'm excellent at it!
1st. Does WHT Have to be about web hosting?
2nd. Does it have to be a forum?
3rd. Why don't we change it to a BBQ store?

I change my mind, I want 2 cookies and chocolate milk. In return, you get 70% off and a pink colored title as well.

An announcement like this without telling who the new owners are? Unlikely.

Looks like we're drifting again... How about ideas on how to make WHT break records for the "new owner."

I think the point system should be changed to 10 from 30! Drinking chocolate milk while posting would earn 3.

Maybe you should look a bit more carefully at Akash's post

Beginning April 2, 2004 WebHostingTalk.com(WHT) will no longer be owned by iNetInteractive(iNet). A small group of active, long-time members of WHT had been in negotiations for the purchase of the forums since the time iNet aquired WHT. iNet Interactive made the decision to sell based on the amount the group had offered which will remain undisclosed at this time. iNet staff will remain on-hand to manage the servers WHT resides on, which will still be administered by iNet for a period of time.

Effective immediately upon the closing of the sale, WHT will require a $11.95 annual membership fee for all members (equivilent to less than $1 per month). In addition, those who wish to advertise their products and services in the advertising forums will incur a small listing fee. This fee will range from $1 per listing to $20 per listing, and allows the advertisement to be visible for a period of 7 days. We will have an ebay style auction for the sticky adds, so let your wallets do the talking. Paid registration will begin April 2, 2004. Anyone who has already paid for the premium members services will still be entitled to the discounts, for a period that will not exceed 60 days. We will issue prorated refunds to members who paid quarterly, semi annually, and annually. After that, you will need to renew based on current rates. All user registrations completed before this date will receive a 10% discount on their membership fees.

    Frequently Asked Questions:
What does the registration fee include?
Your annual membership fee will allow you post new threads, search the forums, send and receive private messages and more!

What happens if I don't pay my membership fee?
If you choose not to pay your membership fee, you will not be able to enjoy the features of WHT to it's fullest extent. Non-Paid members will only be allowed to read posts. You will not be able to post any new threads, PM any user, or perform any searches.

What will be iNet's role after the sale?
iNet will continue to provide the owners the appropriate technical support and assistance with marketing.

So am I paying iNet or the new owners?
iNet will be processing transactions until the new owner's group completes transition of all billing policies and procedures. iNet will receive minimal fees for their advertising, admistration, and consulting services.

In closing, we believe that WHT is a strong community founded on the principle of users helping one another. We have a very strong member base, and the new implementations on this forum will only help bring WHT and its members to new heights. We hope that you all appreciate all that we do for you, and in turn help to support the best webhosting forum on the internet.
