WebHostingTalk.com Sold & Limited Access Forums. (April Fool's 2004)
Subject: WebHostingTalk.com Sold & Limited Access Forums (April Fool's 2004).
Beginning April 2, 2004 WebHostingTalk.com(WHT) will no longer be owned by iNetInteractive(iNet). A small group of active, long-time members of WHT had been in negotiations for the purchase of the forums since the time iNet aquired WHT. iNet Interactive made the decision to sell based on the amount the group had offered which will remain undisclosed at this time. iNet staff will remain on-hand to manage the servers WHT resides on, which will still be administered by iNet for a period of time.
Effective immediately upon the closing of the sale, WHT will require a $11.95 annual membership fee for all members (equivilent to less than $1 per month). In addition, those who wish to advertise their products and services in the advertising forums will incur a small listing fee. This fee will range from $1 per listing to $20 per listing, and allows the advertisement to be visible for a period of 7 days. We will have an ebay style auction for the sticky adds, so let your wallets do the talking. Paid registration will begin April 2, 2004. Anyone who has already paid for the premium members services will still be entitled to the discounts, for a period that will not exceed 60 days. We will issue prorated refunds to members who paid quarterly, semi annually, and annually. After that, you will need to renew based on current rates. All user registrations completed before this date will receive a 10% discount on their membership fees.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What does the registration fee include?
Your annual membership fee will allow you post new threads, search the forums, send and receive private messages and more!
What happens if I don't pay my membership fee?
If you choose not to pay your membership fee, you will not be able to enjoy the features of WHT to it's fullest extent. Non-Paid members will only be allowed to read posts. You will not be able to post any new threads, PM any user, or perform any searches.
What will be iNet's role after the sale?
iNet will continue to provide the owners the appropriate technical support and assistance with marketing.
So am I paying iNet or the new owners?
iNet will be processing transactions until the new owner's group completes transition of all billing policies and procedures. iNet will receive minimal fees for their advertising, admistration, and consulting services.
In closing, we believe that WHT is a strong community founded on the principle of users helping one another. We have a very strong member base, and the new implementations on this forum will only help bring WHT and its members to new heights. We hope that you all appreciate all that we do for you, and in turn help to support the best webhosting forum on the internet.

The 'new owner' thing changes the complexion of the whole 'pay to post' thing.
I'm in. I'd love to know who the new owners are though.0

That's a good idea. Maybe it wil cut down on the "One Post Wonders" in the Web Hosting sub-forum.

They take all major credit cards, paypal, paysystems, neteller, payspark, prepaidatm...
Heck, you can even give them your bank account number and they'll freely hook up the tap and drain it out conviniently as you browse your favourite site.0

Maybe the new owners can do a special. For members who visit infrequently, sell credits for use at anytime up to a certain amount of posts.
