u n i t h o s t i n g. n e t has disappeared

***********.net seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. I can't get my own websites, I can get their website, the mail won't work, etc. It's been like this for over two days. Siteuptime shows 100% downtime on both their sites and my own.

Problem is, I JUST paid them $120 for a year's subscription.

I'm so, so, SO screwed by this. They couldn't have picked a worse week to do this. And I have had no communication from them about it.

Is anybody else having this problem?

Well, that IP they have in their nameservers is at theplanet/servermatrix.... so if there's a financial prob (unpaid bills) or theplanet has taken their server offline for abuse...then if you were very polite, the theplanet/servermatrix support will be able to give you the facts.

How did you pay? You may be able to get your money back if you paid by paypal or credit card.

However wait a bit longer if the sites are not majorly important and see if you can find an alternative contact like phone.

Sorry to hear that. What was the package details that you were paying for with that year subscription?

What's your sites names?

Hey, if you paid with your credit card you can request a charge back and at least get your money back.

Well is it possible to contact them by phone, or an alternate email? See about a refund and I would look at doing a chargeback as a last result.
As far as their upstream giving you any info, I highly doubt (and hope) they would *not* divulge that type of information to you.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, other than the downtime.

I have several sites down atm. Most of them are located on servers at theplanet in Dallas or ev1 in Houston. The host your bought your site from is probably reselling from theplanet and has their site on the same server they resell off of. Thus when your site goes down cause the server is out, so does theirs. DOH!

Obviously you two havent dealth with too many resellers. The experiencing of dowtime where support through the "host" (aka reseller) is unavailable is inevitable when you pay for inexpensive hosting. Just the same that you have to deal with the reseller having the plug pulled on them because of permissions that allow users to run insecure scripts.

If you want relaibility, go to Verio, etc. etc.

::Mind you this is speaking as a customer, not just someone that has worked in the Web Admin field::
