    * Cpanel On 64Bit - 4 Cpu Itanium

    Hi 2 all..
    i recently purchased a new server :

    HP RX4610 + Storageworks Viruall array 7110

    server has:

    4 itanium 800Mhz Cpu (64 bit)
    8GB of Ram!
    2 SCSI H.D. 35GB 15Krpm hotswap
    and Its Fully Redudent!

    storage:
    upto 14 hdz scsi hotswap


    now.. its for shared hosting!
    what i need is 2 know.. if i installed on it debian 30r2 64bit
    can i run CPANEL on it ?
    how would it work?
    does anyone know how it will response?
    general recomendetions?

    Good server, but why?

    Apache will be most likely your bottleneck than any of your server susbsytem.

    bcz....

    its a super good deal .. i got it for very very cheap!
    and under warrenty !
    it was 1/10 of the market price!

    now..
    max ill use Vserver on it..
    but now..
    i need 2 know..
    can it handle it?
    what should i do ..
    any1?

    well .. i need it .. 2 give the best shared hosting around..
    i promise ya it wont be wasted so easly!

    Id consider that a better platform for vps if its something you havent considered yet.

    VPS would be better than shared hosting, agreed. With shared hosting, your software would be a bottleneck much sooner than your hardware is. Thus, the performance of a 4 CPU server does not scale linearly froma a performance of a single CPU server.

    In fact, it's much better to do load balancing on 2 servers than to have one server with 4 CPUs handling everything.

    cPanel support for debian is beta at best. You are best going with either freebsd or redhat enterprise ( eeew ).
