It's pretty rare for me to receive any notices like this from them (I have enough trouble just getting them to respond to my trouble tickets), but I got this one. Now if only I could start receiving notices for the outages that actually affect me...
We only have about 16 servers that are still down that are giving us trouble i would assume one of them is yours. Please email me at [email protected] if you have trouble reaching our website. Again were sorry, we don’t control the routing and are working to make sure every place points to the new providers.
The move was hard to make, for the last 4 years we’ve tried to keep customer migrations to a minimum, but it now has become necessary to move to provide a better level of service to customers.
If you didn’t receive the 6 emails we’ve sent out over the last 2 months about moving please email [email protected] so I can make sure your added to our maint. Mailing list.

I am looking for any help I can get from the community. I had hosted 43 sites with Alan Reid at Spash Host. Alan apparently didnt pay his bill with the Charle Baker of DTI...so his servers were taken down.
When the servers were taken down three weeks ago...all of my customers websites and databases went down with them. I have tried to get help from Alan Reid and he is worthless. I have spent two weeks trying to contact Charles Baker and he is worthless as well. I eventually got a hold of Charles Baker and he told me I would have to pay him $395 via cashiers check or money order to access my customers files. I sent the money order FEDEX three days ago....and still no action from Charles Baker.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know Charles Bakers cell phone or home phone? I have a cousin in Wichita so as a last resort I will fly out and visit Charles and ring his neck.
I would rather be run over by a truck then have to deal with Alan Reid or Charles Baker...snakes in the grass.

this is quite a hefty accusation to make. alan/splash has a solid reputation here as well as a solid business; i personally lend little weight to this statement. of course, stranger things have happened, though i would urge everyone to hold off until alan posts wrt this.
Paul, thank you for your response and I look forward to Alan Reids response as I have a series of emails from him that back up what I said and would be pleased to post them online for all to see. Alan Reids actions / inactions cost me and my customers in excess of $10,000, and yes...I can post proof of that as well.
My original post was two fold, asking for help suggestions and warning the public about two fly by night crooks. The long and short of it is that Charles Baker took Alan Reids servers offline because of an unpaid bill, Alan Reid did not pay the bill thus all of the customers he serviced on that particular server were victims. Sounds like a great way to do business if you are a dirtball.
Alan Reid did pay his bills. In fact charles baker had helped him self to $7200 more of my money than he should of. He then took my servers offline before I expected him to take them offline. To get them back he was basically wanting me to send him a fax saying I wouldnt dispute the charges on my credit card.

Yikes, that's really bad. But we all know there's always 2 sides to every story, and there's clients caught in the middle.
Hope things get resolved asap for all parties.
I looked at Affordable Colo ages ago, but was turned off by their bad spelling. Yes, I won't do business with such lousy spellers. That's just me.
That is absolutly not true, Alan reid, requested cancelation of his service 2 months ago, it was to end this month, i actually left his servers up 2 extra weeks at not charge, when we moved they obv were not put back online. He called me up in a frantic, because he hadnt moved customers off the boxes, and they were down, he didnt want to pay for any more service but wanted his boxes online, i worked with him on getting them back online even though his account was terminated, i told him i wouldnt make him pay for an additional contract term but just for one month, again trying to help him.
He said it would be no problem, of course once i get the servers up, he doesnt want to pay me.
So i am helping the customers direct get their data.
Finally the only billing issue there was, was 2 double charges, and for a month of service which he does owe for but disputes. over 2 years of business with alan and 2 billing problems, which i suspect happened when we switched billing systems, he didnt bring the over charges to my attention until 2 weeks ago for a problem that happened like 5 months ago, I told him id personally credit him back or paypal him any problems with his account . Of course he dissappears when i im him a week later, which he is known to do.
Alan the only person you have to blame for your customers is yourself. If you request cancelation, it would be in your best intrest to actually move them before your contract renews.
And on your billing issue, theres not much i can do unless you im me back when i im you, to correct the issue.
Latest Update on the Alan Reid / Charles Baker saga. It has now been two weeks since the extortion payment was made to Charles Baker and we have not received anything in return. No files and or databases. I email Charles Baker each and every day utilizing a civil tone...yet to response. I have called Charles Baker each day for the last two weeks...and only got him on the telephone once and he gave me the run around. I have repeatedly explained to Charles Baker that his inactivity is effecting 23 different groups of people as I had a reseller account with Alan Reid and splash host....but chuckie cheese does nothing. Seems to be that Charles Baker is not only a lousy unethical business man...but he is also a thief. If any of you other folks have been defrauded and robbed by either one of these characters...contact me via email as we have a surpise for them. One of my clients (North Metro Miracle League) which is a softball organization that benefits the handicapped has a Federal District Court Judge that is on the board of directors and he wants to slam these thieves.
Well the Charles Baker nightmare / saga continues. It has now been 17 days since Charles Baker of DTI Hosting received our certified extortion payment and the only thing we have gotten form Charles Baker and his employees (ha, ha)(there are no employees) is aggravation. We have not received the databases or files we have spent the better part of three weeks asking for.
Charles Baker had the nerve to tell me he didnt need me emailing and calling him 5 times a day as he has other customers to service. So sorry Charlie...but I paid 17 days ago....and expect some action / results / satisfaction. I paid in full as he demanded and now I expect satisfation.
So far we have been contacted by 6 other individuals who have been jerked around / defrauded / robbed by Charled Baker and his various shell companies.
Warning, Warning, Warning: Buyer Beware of Charles Baker and Alan Reid. If you expect to get what you have paid for...then you shoudl run for the hills if you see either one of these two guys.

I hate to say this, but our experience with AffordableColo was horrible. We were customers for over 2 years and they screwed up our billing (in no way our fault) and then would not return our server for weeks even when we did settle up by paying via wire transfer.
They never contact you when there is problems, never notify you of planned outages, do not know how to cummunicate or respect clients in any way shape or fashion.
I have contracts with Deru / Limelight / Hurricane Electric / PwebTech / DirectNow / Weinbar / Pajo - I never had any problems like this... but with AffordableColo the customer was always wrong and/or ignored.
I had to physically go to Dallas to get my server back it was so bad.
Avoided phone calls, avoided AIM responses, avoided emails. All the norm.
Dave, Charles Baker and DTI Hosting / Afordablecolo is a nightmare plain and simple. I have been contacted by 14 different individuals / companies who were victims. All toll it seems like he has inflicted in excess of $100,000 in damages to this group.

We are in the process of bringing a class action suit against Charles Baker. If you have been robbed or defrauded by Charles Baker and his make believe companies / websites please forward your details and contact information if you want to be part to the suit.
