On a site i have, i want the download dialog box to appear whenever someone clicks on the link for the mp3 file. The problem i'm having now is that when they click the link, it takes them to a page where the mp3 file is then streamed from the browser, instead of opening the download dialog.
I'm hosting a few sites for different bands and they all hey MP3 downloads. It is a browser setting that makes MP3's stream instead of downloading. Both Mozilla and IE will stream audio by default (recommend Mozzila). Just above every download link we add a little line that tells people to right click to save, left click to stream.
If you would like to offer downloads only then add some php script to your site. Here is a link for info: How to's on music downloading
Hope this helps some.

You could use a script (e.g. PHP) to set the MIME headers to force the browser to download the file. I have used a similar trick to force browsers to download a PDF file rather than just opening it before - if you want the code I used, PM me and I'll try and find it for you.
