New P4 Processor w/1meg cache compatibility question

    Hey everyone.

I just got a new 2.4Ghz P4 with the 1meg cache. Installed in and it appears to be dead. Before I request and RMA though, I wanted to check and make sure that there isnt some type of compatibility issue that I havnt heard about or something like that. These new large cache chips should work on any P4 ready motherboard right?

    Thanks,

    T7702

IIRC You have to a have a Prescott enable motherboard.

Yes like MattF said its probably because your motherboard only supports Northwood pentium 4's, but these new processors have the prescott core.

The Prescott only works on all I875
most I865 as well, only the good brands can such as ASUS, Gigabyte, Intel, probably Magic-Pro...etc
