    Setting the FQDN hostname?

I'm having a bit of trouble setting the FQDN on the new server..

I want it to be the server's hostname.. but this is what I get..

    [email protected] [~]# hostname
    host
    [email protected] [~]# hostname --fqdn
    hostname: Unknown host
    [email protected] [~]#

How do i set it to something.something.com?

I've tried hostname something.something.com but when I restart, it reverts back. I tried setting it in /etc/hosts, no luck.

    Thanks

    Code:
    hostname host.domain.com
Make sure that /etc/hostname has the correct fully-qualified name in it.

    Run "hostname your.hostname.com"

That should get it recognised without having to reboot.

Use the method above to save it across reboots
