can't resolve WWW or some subdomains
I have an unusual situation.
Some of my subdomains work, e.g.
http://gallery.blogjordan.com
Some don't, e.g.
http://youth.redlandbaptist.org
What I've also noticed, and what I thought, ut til now a localized issue on my pc, WWW doesn't resolve to any of the above.
http://www.blogjordan.com
http://www.redlandbaptist.org
YET the following does resolve:
http://blogjordan.com
http://redlandbaptist.org
Is is possible to have a hosts.conf and or resolv.conf file that is only half right and still have httpd load correctly?
I've check my DNS records, it appears all the mappings are there (CNAME, A, etc ...).
I'm RTFM'ing as much as I can, but things look right, but aren't working right. Any thoughts or tools I could use to help sniff out the culprit?

Seriously, if you know a tutorial that describes my situation, then I'll be glad to read it.
I've yet to find one that describes my particular scenario ... I'm beginning to wonder about my named.conf and related /var/named/redlandbaptist.org.db file that WHM generated.

Perhaps I'm having problems upstream?

What the heck is a missing stealth server? And do I need one to solve THIS problem?
(BTW, the nameserver is on the same server as the aformentioned domains).Last edited by ChoirBoy; 03-25-2004 at 11:37 AM.

If you look at:
http://dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport...andbaptist.org
and:
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsre...blogjordan.com
There seems to be a confliction in the nameservers of blogjordan.com (it can't decide between beanerspace.us and beanerspace.com) you don't have that problem with the other domain.
* edit - yes the gallery subdomain works for me now tooHyperconfused (™)

Yeah, I suspect a WHM/Cpanel bug somewhere in the mix.
After posting here, I went back and took a look at the DNS entry and said, hey, that should be "ns1.beanerspace.us. "
Let's see if that doesn't resolve the problem ... I suspect I'll have to wait a bit for propogation? I mention that because though fixed:
http://gallery.blogjordan.com/
still doesn't resolve

not usually, should be pretty instant, as you're not changing the record on the domain just the DNS in WHM
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsre...blogjordan.com
looks ok now, and all the links you posted resolve for me.Hyperconfused (™)

Got any nifty online tracert tools ou prefer so I can get a reality check outside of my own path?
I'm starting to think I had 2 problems. One with the "stealth" thingie, another w/the DNS where I'm sitting.
http://customers.hispeedhosting.com/...deanpeters.com
http://customers.hispeedhosting.com/...andbaptist.org
both get from point to point
http://buythebook.deanpeters.com
http://youth.redlandbaptist.org
both die a thousand deaths on this end ... as strongbad would say ... CRAP!Last edited by ChoirBoy; 03-25-2004 at 12:10 PM.

Hmm ... now no reverse DNS
Hmmm, I also notice no reverse DNS
http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/tracer...andbaptist.org
I suspect I have to yelp at my datacenter for this one, or is there a way I can get round WHM/Cpanel and handjam this puppy myself?
