What is the lowest cost you can get for a dedicated server? Used for gaming and needs 10 gb + Hosts can give me offers on pricing.

Hosts cannot give you offers here, only in the host quote section. Make sure that you look at a stable provider, because a provider with an unstable network is VERY bad for game servers.

Managed.com is your best bet. Cheap, and they have a pretty good network.

There have also been many more positive comments. There is unfortunatly an anti-managed.com clan on WHT, and most of the people involved have never even used their service, so how they can comment I don't know. Also, a lot of the reported "network downtimes" have been due to people simply not being able to manage a server - the network has been found to be totally fine.

Having said that, Nocster and Server Matrix, the two other budget providers, have also had network issues, in fact Nocster was abolutely terrible for a few weeks, they had many hours of downtime. Even EV1 Servers.net have had issues recently.

If you want cheap, go with managed.com. If you want reliable, you will have to pay real money im afraid (IE. dont touch a budget provider).

Matthew - ALL of the downtime issues I posted about Managed.com WERE network issues, and NOT server issues. I'm not as stupid as I look . Can you honestly tell me that you've been happy with their network performance this month? I've had ex-managed.com clients move to my company due to the network issues, so I think I know what's going on. It's true that Nocster and ServerMatrix have had their share of network issues this month. Having seen that, I wouldn't recommend either for gameservers right now.

targetlocked - Where are most of your gaming clients located? I can give a recommendation once I find that out.

the terms CHEAP and Hosting just don't mix I'm afraid.. If you want Cheap, host your own server.. (well I guess paying for the computer to do this on wouldn't be cheap either )

Many good compaines will offer FAIR prices.. CHEAP isn't worth ours or anyones time or energy.

    You can try http://www.layeredtech.com

    Intel Pentium III 933 MHz
    20 GB ATA Hard Disk
    256 MB RAM
    Bandwidth 165 GB

I've had a server from them for almost two months and the uptime has been superb. Pings for me and others have been great too. Prices starting at $39/month.

Well SM servers are not the cheapest in town, managed.com and 1and1.com are cheaper, but I sastified with their support. Although I heard lot of complain here about SM support.

Go for SM, the price different is not that much, IMHO.

I'm interesting in having a server with 1and1, too. Their offers are attractive.

Look up a GNAX reseller - their servers aren't the cheapest, but their network is VERY GOOD, especially for the prices. My pings to GNAX are as good as my pings to Servermatrix, and they are 1000 miles farther away from me. Plus GNAX is adding a couple more gig-e lines next month, so it should only get better. I would not even consider EV1 for gameservers - their network just has too much latency to keep most gamers happy.

The bottom line here is that you can go dirt cheap and get somthing passable, or you can opt to spend 20-40% more and get excellent performance from a number of different providers. In my experience, it is well worth the extra $$ to get what I want, rather than to go cheap and then wish I had spent the money later on.
