Exclamation Permission Denied when deleting under root?

I am logged on under root in SSH, and I am trying to delete a directory that is not empty. When I try and delete the directory I get a 'Permission Denied' error when it tries to delete the files inside the directory. I have tried to force delete the files and lots of different commands, but it won't budge. I know this is possible, because I had done it yesterday, I just cannot remember which command I had used. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

The file or directory is most likely chattr. type man chattr which will give you an understand of why. To remove it type chatt -R -i <directory>
