1and1 ... confused on pointing domain
I've read quite a few threads regarding the policies of 1and1. I don't think that my situation has been addressed.
I have a domain hosted through addaction. I pointed that domain to my free 1and1 web site, by referencing the 1and1 nameservers with my registrar (addaction) as well as updating the control panel of my 1and1 account to reflect the domain name.
Fast forward five months ... I want to remove the domain (again, registered through addaction) from the 1and1 site and point it elsewhere. I cannot find a reference anywhere in the 1and1 settings to remove this association.
Thanks for sharing any thoughts on how I might attempt to resolve this.

To use the domain with another service, just change the nameservers. Then, to remove the domain from the 1and1 control panel so you don't keep getting emails about the domain no longer pointing to your 1and1 account, go here:
https://cancel.1and1.com/

If you transfer the DNS to another server with addaction, 1and1 will send you an email suggesting you reply to have them remove the account.

I don't want to cancel the account. After all, it's free and if nothing else, I can just use it as an ftp site for holding data while I am on the road.

Ah, ok ... I'll give this a try and see what happens.
Thanks so much!

Your free account will still be active. They assign you a sub-domain when you sign up.
You can always add more domains later.

You don't have to cancel the whole account, just the individual domains, which you can do at that address.
