To those of you who are corporations and prefer to do your own taxes, what software do you use? I see a lot of software for personal or non-corp use, but only one for corp use (Tax Act) and it did not have my state as part of the package.
Turbo Tax charges 59.95 i think to file online. (Small Business Premium)
I went to a local CPA for $179.00 (we prepared all the records in order and all the statements precompiled before we met her). I would lean on a professional to get the job done. 1st, she consulted us on things that we were unclear on. 2nd, I personally felt more secure. 3rd, the CPA kept a copy of all the documents in storage incase we get auditted which is a plus. and Last we got a referral for webhosting from her.
If we had done it ourselves, sure we would save money. But sometimes mistakes can cost a bit from trial and error with Uncle Sam.
Last year we went with H&R block and they raped us big time...I'm too embarrassed to say how much I paid, but in my defense, we had to file 3 separate returns, two of them corporate and one of them personal.
I just think it is a little ironic that the IRS does not offer some kind of free tax software...instead we need to PAY somebody to PAY the goverment.
How much is a lot? I pay $150 for my personal return. Business return cost goes up every year ... haven't gotten the bill this year, yet. Last year we paid about $500 for the business taxes, though.
