    php is a programming language like html for webpages but much more complex and it involves variables and databases

    perl is another programming language

    mysql is a database service that stores outputs content in databases.

    I'm sure you will need PHP and MySQL.

    PHP = yes
    Perl = Maybe but probably not
    CGI = Not unless you need Perl
    mySQL = yes

    I really haven't palyed around with PHP Nuke in a while but the last I remember there were no cgi or Perl requirements. (unless you were going to use the Mr.Whois script for domain name searches)

    But a good Linux host should have all of the above standard with each account.

    Hope this helps

    From the PHPNuke site:
    PHP-Nuke is written 100% in PHP and requires Apache Web server, PHP and a SQL (MySQL, mSQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC, ODBC_Adabas, Sybase or Interbase)

    Only PHP and MySQL. Others (mSQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC, ODBC_Adabas, Sybase or Interbase)) are optional if you dont have/want to use MySQL.

    Suggestion : PostNuke is better than PHPNuke !
