How does the IP address bar work?

    Hi all.

Some of you may know what I have had a few problems copying my phpbb forum (database) to my new server from my old host.

I have managed to successfully copy the forum using BackUp in cpanel but it has only managed to copy half of the forum. So what I need to do is access the actual forum using the IP number of the old host rather than typing the website address (as my nameservers have already changed to reflect the site at the new server).

So what I need to know is how to access my site using the IP number only on a shared account.

For example if I type the IP number into the address bar such as 00.00.00.00 what do I have to type after that to access my site.

I have tried 00.00.00.00/mysite/ but this doesn't seem to work as it doesn't recognise it as it is on a shared server.

    Please help - Dav

Are you perhaps seeking something like:

http://###.###.###.###/~username/forums where as username is the account username on your server and forums is the directory of the boards?

    Hi guys,

Thanks for that - it worked perfectly.

Apparantly, my phpbb forum appears to have halved in size overnight (ie losing all posts from August 2003 to today and losing 5000 registered members in the process).

Should I simply ask my old host to restore their latest back-up of the site as my account with them is still live?

    Cheers - Dav
