It's been nearly a month since I decided to try Mesopia.com and their Windows/Linux reseller bundle. Most of my hosting is linux based, and my provider for the last year or so only has linux reselling so when I had a need to add a windows option switching to mesopia seemed like a good idea.
Boy was I ever wrong.
I suppose my main problem centered around a mistake I made. I failed to read the fine print regarding their 'FREEBUNDLE' coupon. Apparently its a common mistake, since here and other places I've read of many people making a similar error.
Keying in that coupon at the placement of ones order (and failing to meet the requirements of the deal) apparently causes one to have to wait as many as four days to get thier account established. Further it causes them to be billed an extra $14 (in my case) and have to send several emails to (ultimately Jay) to get the problem resolved.
Once the problem was resolved I'd already found another place to get the windows reselling I needed. And my intrest in dealing with mesopia had pretty much evaporated. Fortunately they offer a 30-day money back gurantee. The following is the the letter I just sent to them to try (for the third time) to get my account cancelled and my $14.00 + $26.95 refunded.
I've requested that my account be cancelled and my money refunded twice now. I've sent these requests to (pretty much every email address through which I'd communicated with mesopia until today]) The first such request was sent March 2nd. The second was send March 11th. This is the third attempt to get this resolved.
I've not received any response from any of the prior messages I've sent except for an automated response from (their support email) referencing a new Ticket number that now no longer exists.
I've been billed twice by mesopia since I originally ordered. The first time for $14.00 on Feb 25. The second time for $26.95 on Feb 27. I ordered the Windows/Linux bundle on the 27th, and due to confusion regarding your FREEBUNDLE coupon was billed the $14.00 incorrectly and failed to have my account activated for 4 days.
Please respond immediately and confirm that my account has been cancelled for domain: xx***********. Further refund both the $14.00 amound and the $26.95 amount.
I'm anxiously awaiting their reply (to get this account cancelled and my money refunded, I've been waiting for such a reply for nearly a month).

Thanks Jay, and thanks WHT.
Congratulations. It looks like you came out further ahead than many who get caught in the "Free Bundle!" with domain name offer.
This kind of webhost advertising works through a typical "gotcha" clause that allows webhosts both to protect themselves from losses on money-back guarantee charge-backs and to make some income off a domain name sale from often unsuspecting customers. Unsatisfied customer leaves. Webhost claims the gotcha money buried somewhere in the TOS. It may not provide much income but it does help to cover the inevitable churn that such business practice fosters.
