ServerMatrix FIX MY MACHINE, constant crashes! Still no response
I just ordered a brand new P4 2.8 GHZ server, 1 gig ram and dual 80 gig drives from Server Matrix with RHE and Cpanel. Cpanel has been upgraded to latest stable release.
Over the last day my machine has crashed 3 times. I've requested reboots but I'm getting really upset as to why my machine keeps crashing.
I just moved from Ev1servers, to SM. I never had a problem with Ev1 but needed to upgrade to a new machine from an old celeron. I've been hearing good things from Server Matrix so I decided to try them out.
My latest reboot request has been waiting in their support section for OVER 3 hours! REBOOT my server now.
Their critical and support number is busy when I call!
Right now I'm furious at the terrible quality of service from Server Matrix and ready to leave their terrible server and move back to EV1 just after a week of migrating a full server to their network to move BACK!!!
Someone from Server Matrix/The Planet please respond. All my email is down, SSH, FTP, HTTP and even your phone number doesn't work. This is a brand new server that shouldn't be crashing every few hours.
Even when I call their sales number and I press 1 for the support option it says call cannot be transfered. Is everyone from Server Matrix out drinking and not taking care of their customers?! What is the problem here?
Ask them to give you a new box we had the same exact problem with the same specs and a new box fixed the issue. Seems they use crappy hardware. Also is it running a smp or nonsmp kernel?
Thanks linuxguy, at least I know I'm not alone. The problem is the server is loaded with clients, so unless they're going to transfer all them for me that isn't a very good option as I just spent the last 3 days transfereing everyone off a box with Ev1 network that was outdated. I guess I have no option at this point. It would help if THEIR PHONE NUMBER WORKED!
In regards to the kernel I'm not sure, I would login the box and check but wait.... haha it's down so I can't check It should be the standard kernel that comes with it, I never upgraded and the machine is literally a few days old.
Yea, about 15 min of downtime tonight and last night. There is a problem with some of the kernels installed on the 2.8 machines. If you put in a request they will install a ntl kernel which seems to fix the crash/load issues.
The SM staff will have one busy night that's for sure. Lets just hope they get everything online ASAP. Thanks for the link Steve, appreciate the help! I'm still hoping it's just the network affecting my box, but I guess I'll have to wait until the network gets fixed.... no sleep tonight
see here it how it works dont keep all the eggs in one bansket, well my main website is on so for me SM can take all the week, i just ran the backup server and all are ok for me, for sure it is out of SM

Heh, my server at FDC Servers is running fine... albeit overloaded... takes anywhere from 0.5 to 90 seconds to load a page.
Originally posted by Imago I've seen someone saying on the other thread he/she is having a big $500 machine with ThePlanet which is also down.
I think Bashar was just kidding. They say they provide 99.9% for SM and 100% for TP, but 'saying' and 'providing' are different things. I have friends with servers at TP (not SM) that were affected by network issues more than once.
