best form of advertising
I am looking for the best way to advertise my hosting company, entityhosting.com.
I had bad experiences with Google AdWords, it seems to have a high learning curve. I would appreciate to hear your experiences with various form of advertising and see what worked best for you.
Thanks

Anything that consists of Face to Face always works best for us.
Chamber of Commerce meetings, Referral Networks, Trade Shows, etc...

try to do that with big companies, fastclick for example is a pretty good one... and pay per click is much better than pay per impression.

fastclick looks good, but they have a $1000 minimum. Are there reputable ad companies with lower minimums?

they are a lot, I dont know doubleclick but they are pretty good too, thr bigger the company is, the more effective your advertising will be. You can also try different form, traffic exchanges like CashOrTraffic deliver massive traffic with good prices.

Does anyone know if WHT is a good place to advertise? I mean do people come here to get hosting or do hosts just come here to talk about hosting?

The BEST form of advertising? Don't think there is a best but some of the top preferred methods are:
Referrals
Leads (purchased)
Visit Local Businesses
Call Businesses
Send Personal Letter to Businesses
Yellow Page Ads
Network with Chamber of Commerce & other business groups
PPC
Organic Search Engines (learn SEO)
Banner Ads0

What are your experiences with Google AdWords. I've spend a lot of money there but with poor results. In general, how much do you spend on average per customer in advertising? Just so I can get an idea if my campaign is doing well, or if I should invest my money elsewhere.
Thanks,
--Patrick

I got a deal with Crown Theaters in Norwalk, CT, because I did some ads for them and they actually ran an ad for me for free. You should be able to get an ad up and running on the network for a month for about $350 if you make your own ad copy.
If you have an agency do it for you, forget it. It will be very expensive. Contact your local theater as they are mostly all franchises that set their own rates.0

The form suitable for you really depends on your budget... I personally feel that you should use a mix of different methods.. Many have been already discussed here...
I would like to suggest that you also spent some time on Brand Promotion. A good brand sells itself... You can start from your existing customer.Once they believe in your brand they will refer others to it.. people really love sharing about good brands...
You can send personalised gifts to existing value customers, distribute some CDs or othergifts etc with your brand imprinted on it... you can be really innovative.
Also I think Brand Building doesnt brings immediate gains but helps in long runWholesale Domain Prices for Retail Customers - Rushtoweb.com0

Here's a thread where ITWeb LLC posted a few things about movie theatre ads:

It seems they're quite effective.0
