right i just thought my server was crazy i only have my forums on the server and a few pop3 accounts for my elite members (around 20)

and all of a sudden qmail was taking all my load up and killing my machine with slow

i checked my log and dont laugh i had 1300000 mails in my queue

when i setup the qmail server from the toaster found here http://www.shupp.org/toaster/ it never told me to make a rcpthosts file

well basicly i had an open relay going on as you probably guessed.

i am not sure if im blocked by spam cop or anything now.

right i have put my domain in the rcpthosts file like this

mydomain.com

but when i log into my outlook account i can recieve mails but it wont send i get

repsone error 553 sorry that domain is not in my list of allowed rcpthosts

all the domains you want to recieve mail on should be listed in rcpthosts

reload qmail after you add them to this file

this will get you on the right path to qmail perfection

yeah i only have one domain and its in the rcpthosts file ?

well it should give you that error until you authenticate with pop, then it will add your ip to the tcp.smtp.cdb file and allow you to relay mail through

how do i authenticate with pop ?

i have setup all the vpopmail users fine and when the server was an open relay it was fine and sending but now i hope i have closed it off its not fine and wont work

which pop daemon did you install? pop3d?

ok i just found out that i need to setup the pop3 account in outlook authenticate whhen connecting

this worked gr8

but i still have a problem when i had like 1 and a half million mails i had to use this command

rm -rf and delete the directorys to get rid of the mails (one by one would have been stupid)

now it says its unable to add to queue ?

do i need to create the directorys using the user vpopmail or chown the dirs or something ?

here is the error
451 qq trouble creating files in queue (#4.3.0)

ok fixed it myself

i wen into ftp and just ceated the directorys again

thanks again sometimes its good for me to write whats going on and get help at the same time and sort things

now to watch my queue to make sure no one is taking the piss !
