You do know that they don't offer any SLA? These days almost all hosts offer some kind of SLA, it's hard to believe they have none.

DC2 seems to only have Allegiance and Verio bandwidth, not a great setup if you asked me...

No SLA and only 2 Backbone Providers. Doesn't sound like a good match to me.

Two backbone plus two seperate interconnects, over which traffic could be routed if there ever was a problem with the two giges there.

What do you really expect for $99 and that much bandwidth?

I thought Robert had mentioned they were utilizing dark fiber (10Gbps) between the two DC's so they could utilize the existing links?

Yeah, binaris is correct as per my post. I don't believe they're 10Gbps, I thought I read 1, but that's not a major issue... essentially it provides the redundancy of DC1 to DC2.

As for the SLA... EV1 is trying to break out of being cast as a "bargain" provider... they're fairly expensive on some of their systems now compared to other bargain providers.

Other bargain providers that provide an SLA, I should mention.

If EV1 wants to raise the price for their service, they need to raise the quality of certain aspects first.

I'd have enough trust in their network to go with them, even though they don't have an SLA. When was the last time that they had downtime? They didn't even go offline when their power transformer blew up last year

Different segments have had downtimes. About 6-7 months ago I had a 2 hour downtime for my network block (I had just signed up, too ) But overall their network is stable.

Aside from that, you also get no hardware SLA, too... which is more something to worry about.

I can think of a far better word to describe their support team.

Even managed.com provide an SLA (although its not worth too much, its there). Im quite shocked at EV1, especially as they are probably in the best position of all DC's to provide one.

I think Matt from United Hosting has a private rack of Xeons in DC2, he was getting them anyway, not sure if EV1 have been able to set him up yet though.
