    Managed.com now has XO/abovenet

I just did a check, and look for yourself.

I believe this has been established in previous posts. . But anyway yeah it's cool. I've noticed the speed of managed.com's network to be exceptionally faster than usual. Before i'd only get ~800 KB/sec during peak times. Now I can do ~1.5 - 2 MB/sec. (12 mbps - 16 mbps). I still have my doubts on putting clients on managed.com though. I'll wait and see what happens with them.

Correct... I still don't see any routes being announced for their XO circuits.

    Hi Jason,

The XO line is up but engineering is still conducting test on it. Setting up BGP with so much traffics on the network has apparently caused a few false alarms at AboveNet. They hard apparently thought it was a DDoS attack with so much bandwidth going their way.

We'll do our best to resolve this matter and get the XO line activated for customers asap.

Interestingly, my 1mbit cable line is routing via Level 42 and is struggling to reach 10k/s yet my SDSL line is running via Above Net and is easily reaching 200k/s.....

I had noticed that some overseas traceroutes are also going through Layer42. It's been this way since Friday though.

That is very confusing. Why would AboveNet think there's an attack when they've been carrying 100% of the traffic all along? Wouldn't it be XO seeing alot of traffic they hadn't seen before? If they meant XO, why would XO be concerned anyhow as they know full-well that a new customer is being brought online who had previously pushed nothing and would obviously want to push something in order to get value from the line?

Possibly they've been testing the XO line usine the AboveNET link and trying to push as much data to the new line as possible?

Question Where Oh Where Has My GBLX Gone?

Managed.com is STILL advertising Global Crossing bandwidth on its homepage even though it does not now nor have they ever had any connectivity to GBLX.

The map that shows a supposed "OC-192 GLOBAL network" looks like it was borrowed off of Global Crossing's site.

This company seems to have great difficulty in being honest.

I do not interpret it as dishonest. They had placed an order with Global Crossing and it was supposed to be installed before XO. When I signed up for my servers it stated on my order page that the bandwidth to my servers was 'AboveNet only'

To my knowledge, they are still working with Global Crossing to get additional bandwidth installed for later this year.

i don't post as much as I would like lately but I have to make this one.

Why does someone have to ALWAYS post an unrelated negative comment regarding managed.com.
Ok whether it is wrong for them to have the global crossing logo on their website is another matter, but that is not what this thread is about.....

It runs very slowly for me right now though... Is Abovenet just slow right now or something?

I hope Managed.com is not painting itself into a corner and are going to bring in more than just XO, because it takes XO 6 hours to filter an IP from what I hear. The Doss kiddies will have a field day, unless of course managed.com has a GIGE and not just taking a 100 megs or so.
