I am having a problem running a IRCD on a linux box. Mainly because there is a Bircd running on the same box using the same ports. Can I setup a VPS and use the same ports? The IP's are different BTW.
if the ips are different it has nothing to do with ports

You need to configure the ircd server to bind to a specified IP.. one different than the other.
Yup exactly as Haze said, make sure the 'Bircd' isnt listening to *
easy way is using netstats -a or looking at its confs. then make it listen to the right ip, and the other ircd should be able to listen to its ip without problems.
