Game Server Crontabs


Ok peeps hows it going quick question for all you game server hosts who here knows how i can setup my boxes so that when a customer types in /quit or rocn quit that when it goes down it automaticaly restarts it self ..if anyone could help it would be highly appreciated ..thanks ...

You don't really sound like much of a "kickasshost" if you are asking these kinds of questions...

my oh my.... everyone and their mom is becoming a host now. i guess it's nothing new.

Linux Half-Life dedicated servers are restarted automatically by hlds_run, the script that starts them.

vi hlds_run

At the most basic level, you can just use a shell script resembling

while [ true ]
do
./hlds...
done

Most of the larger GSPs use interactive daemons like Iguana or Guardian to manage restarts, command line changes, and mod switching.

well im so sure

damn guys ... ive been hosting for a few months now no need to get all uptight damn im sure there was a time when you all were wondering the same thing ... anyways thanks for the help ...

Iguana only runs on Windows but yeah same principle..

For linux a simple 'While true do....' script would work fine.
