double you hard drive space
You can now double your hard drive's space - e.g. extend 80GB drive to 160GB. Very easy if you follow instructions, and does not require you to go deep in hardware.

I remember something like this could be done before with raid controllers, while setting them in mirror mode. while copying 200MB drive on another one, you could make the second drive 400MB (and sell it for the price of 400MB )

Definitely won't try this on a production machine. If someone tries this, please post your results: I'm interested to see if it does work.

Its definitely not reccomended.
From talking to an expert: The extra space is used for error prevention. Once a sector fails (which they do all the time), it is mirrored onto the 'extra' space.
If you do this, you can end up with a hard disk that is about as useful as a brick.

Careful with deleting hidden partitions containing original configuration mirrors. Some PC manufacturers have started to not provide recovery discs, but instead their software simply copies the recovery partition over to the main one if you want to restore your original configuration.

Trust some horrible sensible person to come along and ruin a perfectly good plan. I was thinking to approach all my cutomers and for a small fee offer to double there disk size, I woulkd have become a millionaire over night or at the least had enougn money for a holiday .
