Is the .com registration slowly becoming extinct?

mY question is will the .com be extinct in an other 3 years and with wls coming soon will this make an end to the .com registration?

WLS has nothing to do with extinction; it's a waiting list system to pass on expiring domains to applicants in queue.

.com is by far the most popular TLD today.
