    Making the jump

    Greetings,

Some may not like this approach, but I started off with a VPS to keep initial startup costs down and build additional capital. I have some good jobs coming down the line and may be making the jump to my own server sooner than I initially planned. Would you advised buying my own server and colocating it, or getting a dedicated server. From what I have seen here finding a good dedicated server hosts seems to be quite difficult at the moment. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I don't see what there isn't to like about it. But I would say just rent a server. Colo is almost as much as renting a server and you don't have to fork up the money up front if you rent it.

No, there are a lot, it's just that people complain too much. No host is perfect. But I suggest getting a low-cost dedicated server from, Nocster, ServerMatrix, or Managed.com.
