Is this legitimate?
I have received a domain renewal notifications. When I click the renewal link, it takes me to:
https://secure.registerapi.com/account/login.php
Is that legitimate or a scam? I am so wary of scams nowadays that I don't want to be paying someone trying to trick me for a domain renewal.
Regards,
Jon

Are you the domain owner? If so, is it about to expire? Is it registered at Dotster?

Yes, I am with dotster. And the email notification says it is about to expire. But is the renewal url legitimate or not?

Looks like it to me but if you are unsure just login into your account and renew from there.

That's the problem. Can't remember my login name and password. Not sure if I have email account set up on either domain either.

Ouch. I think the link looks legit. Don't let it expire.

Well according to the whois record that domain is registered to Dotster themselves so I'm pretty confident but hey, I'm no Dotster expert. I push my domains away from there as soon as possible.

Ya that is a legit dotster login page. Even if you login from dotster main site , it will still go to secure.registerapi.com.

First do a whois to see if you currently have access to the email address listed in the Admin section. Hopefully you do.
https://secure.registerapi.com/services/whois.php
Then go to https://secure.registerapi.com/accou...stpassword.php and enter your domain name. They will send a password to you. Howeverm to login, you will still need the username you used when creating your account with them.
If that doesn't work, then go to http://www.dotster.com/support/support.php . The first link in their FAQ is What should I do if I don't have my account name and password?
Click the link and follow the instructions.

Dotster are actually quite alright except for the high price. I had some domains there which I forgot to transfer and they are nearing their expiration, thus making it impossible to transfer. Lucky I found http://www.netcheap.com/ which is a reseller of dotster. They offer domains at a lower price of $7.99. I just use the push function in dotster to push my domains to the account username created in netcheap and renew my domain there. It help me save a few bucks.
