Host Quote Disappointment
After browsing the forum for the last week or so I've finally plucked up the courage to register and post.
I have been assigned the task by my company of finding a reseller hosting account suitable for a web contract we have just secured. After looking through the advertising forum I decided to put the host quote option to the test. To my disappointment only 2 companies have replied so far!!!! Is this the norm??
Anyone ideas / suggestions on a reseller package similar to the following?? looking for a reliable well established set up as it will be my balls on the line if it goes wrong
.net
4000 MB Disk Space
40 GB / Month Data Transfer
ms sql
unlimited subdomains
unlimited email
personal nameservers
brandable contol panel
full web stats
Any information gratefully received.
Thanks, nipper_uk

Sorry to hear that, not to many hosts have registered to quote for you, probably because this forum is not Windows friendly, or MSSQL… Only premium members that have spent $$$ can supply you a quote

Please remember that these accounts are based on reseller, but will suit you as well for space, MSSQL and transfer...

Re: Host Quote Disappointment
>>put the host quote option to the test.
>>only 2 companies have replied so far!!!!
>>Is this the norm??
probably, it depends on your "specification" and how close people can match it... when there were offers/requests forums available for ppl to quote publicly, way too many fly-by-nightres offered the world for free, and then vanished weeks later ...
why does it have to be a reseller account ? if this is for 1 project as you said ...
>>.net
>>brandable contol panel
so you need windows .net ? as in probably and SPLA M$ member using w2k3 & .net framework
the only windows CP that hosts *appear* to using in volume is HELM and it's not 100% w2k3 compatible, so you have analmost impossible situationfrom the start
>>4000 MB Disk Space
>>40 GB / Month Data Transfer
assuming an average 80g hdd, 20 for the o/s, cp , etc yo're asking for 1/15th of the machine and 1/15th of 2Mb/s
>>ms sql
will add to your cost noticably
>>unlimited subdomains
>>unlimited email
not giong to be easy as unlimited anything doesn't exist - "we dont publicise a limit" hosts a plenty ...
>>personal nameservers
>>full web stats
rough guess on *uk* prices as its the market I'm most aware of, but you *shoudl* be able toget something approaching the requirement for between £40-£60/monthRob Golding Astutium Ltd - UK based ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar - proud to accept BitCoins

Was looking at reseller account so that we can split the bandwidth and diskspace to suit customers requirements.
subdomains and emails don't have to be unlimited but everyone like value for their $ or £ don't theyLast edited by nipper_uk; 03-11-2004 at 12:10 PM.

Hi net-trend.
Don't think desman was implying he had personal experience with the companies.

I know, but implying they are the best resellers seen on WHT is shortsighted to say the least.

ok so you *will* be reselling then.. sorry didn't get that from the "web contract" part of your 1st post
>>subdomains and emails don't have to be unlimited but everyone like value for their $ or £ don't they
Value is good :p
try vibus or 4dhosting, pretty sure they can offer what you're afterRob Golding Astutium Ltd - UK based ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar - proud to accept BitCoins

And of course, rules in mind, he wouldn't want to recommend a company he has had no past experience with, nor any intent to do so.

After a long day researching I think I have narrowed the choice down to 3!!!
reseller-center.com
matrixreseller.com
e-insites.com
On the forum at reseller-center and they seem to have quite a few happy customers and the tutorials look quite comprehensive.
matrixreseller also trades as vortechhosting.com and rapidcolo.com. Don't know if this is a good or bad point.
e-insites - no forum Only an email address to contact for sales enquiries.
Anyone have any experience with any of the above??

They have split their sectors to provide a more targeted website towards the respective client base.

Do a search here on WHT they have one of the worst reps of any host I have seen. Then visit http://www.aitsucks.net/ for tons more horror stories.Last edited by The3bl; 03-12-2004 at 10:03 AM.
