Has anyone had any dealings with Digital Crocus? They look good on paper, but then again, I don't really know what I am supposed to be looking for. I knew I should have taken computer classes in college instead of existentialism and sanskrit.
If it's a host that has been in business for a number of years I don't see it a problem if they only offer yearly plans. Their domain was registered in 2001 but not sure how long they have been operating.
Originally posted by daverj On the other hand, it looks like they start at around $20-something per year, so it's not a big deal if you move on before the year is over.
Looks like maybe a web designer who is also selling hosting space.
I would consider it a very big deal.
If you are running anything other than a personal site then downtime and moving hosts is going to cost you customer confidence.
The $20 may not mean much, but if your site means anything to you, you better choose an established host.
I've been with this company for about a year, and they've been really friendly and helpful with my various problems, this being the first hosting company i've ever dealt with. They seem to be a new company, and they're constantly adding new features (like online file management and private FTP accounts) for no extra cost. the company basically seems to be run by two guys who write all the emails about new things and answer any support questions. i've been really happy, and will definitely be renewing my account with them. it's been really nice to start my paid hosting experience with such a reliable, friendly company.
