Question Anyone every heard of Covista, Dynegy Long Haul, or OnFiber?

    Hello,

I am looking at a carrier nuetral DC and they have the following providers that I have never heard of:

    Covista
    Dynegy Long Haul
    OnFiber

Has anyone ever used or heard anything about these companies? What about pricing?

    Thanks, Kyle

I've heard of them all. I believe onfiber is the most reputable. I'm not sure about exact pricing though.

Never heard of Covista. They look like a very small player.

OnFiber owns MANs (local transport). Acquired Telseon's assets.

El Paso and Dynergy are both very large energy companies. It is very common for companies such as these to lay thousands of miles of fiber along their pipelines. Williams being the most well known for this.

Dynegy's communications division is/was in financial trouble. I know that they were forced to cease operations overseas. Dynegy's focus was on selling PTP connections from one Metro Market to another. Pricing was good.

El Paso seems to offer the same type of service. Not sure about their current state. In know that their largest pipeline inexplicably blow up a few years ago and killed serveral people.

You would use these companies for local or long haul transport not for dedicated access to the Internet.

Dynegy was bought by 360, forgot to mention that.

What are you looking for pricing on?

While of the companies do provide reasonably good service, no matter how hard one negotitates with them the pricing that they have is wayyy off. If you are looking to co-lo, why not go with a facility that would have pretty much everyone under the sun, such as Equinix, PAIX or S&D as opposite to just super-expensive fiber carriers?
