Nonprofit help
I need some advice.
I need help in writing to nonprofit organizations. I want to write to them and tell them I am a web designer and I am willing to do their website for free. I need to build up my portfolio and I hardly ever do anything on the internet but chat. So i have decided to put myself to use and help nonprofit organizations.
I just need help in starting the letter. I already have the "body" of the letter...just need some ideas on how to "start" the letter.
Any advice is appreciated.

Include things such as:
A) What do you want or what will you do for them in general.
B) Details about yourself (brief)
C) Something to entice them to continue reading

Or Dear Sir would do fine as well
It would be best if you could find out the name of person incharge, that shows that you have done your homework and showed your sincere in helping them.

tell them something that they think they can trust you and that you can do a good job for them. They don't want to have someone working on their projects and quit at anytime ....b/c it might ruin their plans.

Here's one for you.
Web_HostOne,
I've been looking for you!!!
This site won't let me email you so I'm replying.
Our website is www (dot) freelifeministries (dot) org
You'll see we need some help. I have one other person that has volunteered, but I'm not sure where that will go. I know a lot of what we want it to look like, but I'm open to creative ideas.
My email is on the website.
Oh, and I'll be happy to help with writing your letter.
Thanks,
Kermit

Instead of
"To Whom it may Concern"
Do your research and find out the name of the person you will be writing to.

Don't worry on how you write it. Free stuff are always welcomed, no matter where you go...

Start first with local churches etc, then move up.
Also, when writing to somebody, ALWAYS try to get there name.

Dear Sirs,
My name is (insert), I am currently trying to build my portfolio and noticed you may be in need of web designing! This is great for the both of us, I am ready to offer my services for *free*. This is for two reasons : One being I am a charitable person, the second is I belive in your cause. (insert more filler bs ect ect).
Make them feel like you want to do for other reasons that to make your portfolio grow, that leads them to belive they are being used.
