    * Microsoft JET Database Engine error (win+Helm)

    Hello out there,

We are new to windows hosting and we have little problem..

I paste the problem from a customer:

Can I locate databases in folders other than DB- does this folder have special permissions? For example: write

I am referring to using a OLE connection, not a DSN - DSN is the only tool in Helm - it also only allows 2 DSN.
See examples below. If you don't know the difference please pass this to someone who does.

    conn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=c:\Domains\\db\stats.mdb"

    conn.Open "DSN=stats_cottagelife_com;UID=sa;PWD=;"

Here is the error when accessing the page:

"Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Operation must use an updateable query.
    /comwaters/cottagelife/showcase/html/updatestats.asp, line 41

Note: We made a virtual directory under default site in IIS6 for the customer because he doesn't want to point his name servers to us yet. Can this be the problem?

Our server is based on Windows 2003 standard edition with Helm control panel.

    Thank you in advance,

It works after enabled write permission for user "user" on the db directory.

Is this really the way I should go? If it is, why isn't this by default?

Thank you in advance once again,
