    * Woman Tried to Pass Fake $1Million Bill

COVINGTON, Ga. - A woman was caught trying to use a fake $1 million bill to buy $1,675 worth of merchandise at a Wal-Mart, and was later found with two more of the bills in her purse, police said.

The United States Treasury does not make $1 million bills, but people can buy souvenirs of such a bill at some stores, police said.

"It looks real, but of course there's nothing real about this," Covington Police Chief Stacey Cotton said Tuesday. "People do crazy things all the time. I think it's just another example of some odd things that occur."

A clerk at the store immediately noticed the bill was fake when 35-year-old Alice Regina Pike handed it to her on Friday, Cotton said.

Pike then tried to use two gift cards with only $2.32 of value on them to buy the merchandise, but when that didn't work she again asked if the clerk could cash the $1 million bill, Cotton said. The store then called police.

Pike, of Porterdale, was charged with forgery. There was no listing for her phone number in directory assistance, and she could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Covington is 32 miles southeast of Atlanta.

Don't worry, it's too superglued to my wall. It's not going anywhere

EDIT: lol... this reminds me that one day last year I was at a stoplight in my car and there were these two masked men dressed in white who were actually robbing a bank in broad daylight right in front of me. I guess they wore white instead of black because it was "daylight" you know. So they were very smart! This was in a very nice neighborhood area and they had the trunk of their car open (I guess to throw in the stolen loot). I saw the whole thing unravel as a long trail of about 5 cops pulled up and haulted the robbery with guns drawn and everything. This was happening all at the same time there was this huge tornado up the road next to us coming from the ocean. Strange day it was.

Regarding the subject line for this thread: since there's no such thing as a "real" $1 million bill, is a "fake" $1 million bill like a double negative in speech?

I like that part about the clerk immediately knowing the bill was fake.

They sure do grow 'em smart down thar in Georgia.

Greedy STUPID people. She "might" have got away with it had she used $1000 bills. (assuming you have those in the states). I had a few real $1k (Canadian) bills a few years ago. They were pretty cool.

The largest bill we in the US have now (Since 1946) is the $100 dollar bill. They used to make $1000 and $10,000 bills, but the demand was so low they decided to stop producing them. Right now, there's only two remaining 10,000$ bills left, and they are appraised for over $200,000!!

Fun Trivia Fact: In the 1860s, there where over 8000 banks in the USA and they produced bank notes that ranged in values from 1/2 cent to $20,000
